The Eton Park Way – Our Behaviour Curriculum
At Eton Park Junior Academy, we believe that excellent behaviour is not left to chance – it is taught, practised and lived every single day. Our Eton Park Way Behaviour Curriculum makes expectations clear and consistent, giving every child the tools they need to thrive both in the classroom and beyond.
Grounded in the research of Tom Bennett, Doug Lemov and Barak Rosenshine, our approach treats behaviour as a curriculum subject in its own right. Just as pupils learn maths or English, they are explicitly taught the routines, values and social habits that enable them to succeed. Staff model these expectations daily, using consistent language and routines so that children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
Our school values – Work Hard, Be Kind, Choose Wisely – sit at the heart of this curriculum. Pupils learn what these values look like in practice, whether through classroom learning, assemblies, playtimes, or in the wider community. Positive behaviours are celebrated through our Class Dojo system, weekly awards, Principal’s Afternoon Tea, positive postcards and pupil leadership opportunities. When behaviour falls short, we respond with clarity, compassion, and a restorative approach – supporting pupils to reflect, reset, and rejoin their learning with dignity.
The impact of The Eton Park Way is clear across the academy:
-
Classrooms are calm, purposeful and focused on learning.
-
Pupils demonstrate respect, responsibility and self-control, using routines such as SLANT to stay engaged.
-
Children are motivated to make positive choices, knowing their efforts will be recognised and valued.
-
Our shared language and consistent expectations create a strong sense of belonging and community identity.
-
Parents are actively engaged, receiving regular updates and recognition of their child’s successes.
By aligning our Behaviour Curriculum with our Teaching & Learning Framework and the Affinity Learning Partnership’s Behaviour Leadership Principles, we ensure that high standards are not only set but lived out daily. The result is an academy where every pupil feels safe, supported and inspired to belong, progress and thrive.
